S3 base consists of sodium salts obtained from condensation of naphthalensulfonic acids and formaldehyde. S3 is produced in liquid and dry states: in form of light-brown water-soluble powder or dark-brown water solution with concentration not less than 32%. It does not evolves harmful gases or exhalation by storage.
Dry S3 does not change its properties at temperatures from +85 to -40 С with following full thawing. The water solution of S3 keeps its properties at heating to 40 45 0 С . At higher temperatures the components of addition agent are partly destructed, and that reduces plasticizing effect. By the same reason it is recommended to preheat concrete mixes with S3 addition agent.
S3 can be easily mixed with other addition agents (water repellents, catalysts, inhibitors, air-entraining agents) without chemical reaction and preserving its properties.
In course of operational process of concrete goods S3 super-plasticizer does not exert harmful influence on human. This addition agent is permitted for use in constructions contacting with drinking water.
S3 ADVANTAGES
Usage of S3 super-plasticizer enables the following:
- Increase mobility of concrete from P1 to P5;
- Decrease water requirement for tempering of cementing agent by 20-28%;
- Increase final strength properties to 50%;
- Control stiffening period varying the volume of S3 addition agent;
- Increase concrete adhesion to steel reinforcement and metal products 1,5-1,6 in times with simultaneous inhibition of metal surface;
- Make cast concrete with extra moisture resistance, crack resistance, and freeze-thaw durability (350 cycles);
- Reduce cement consumption by 20%.
S3 super-plasticizer is acting as retarding agent. At that the following development of concrete strength goes faster.
S3 usage enables decrease of energy costs (by vibration, TVO) by 30-50%, and sometimes ensures complete rejection of additional power inputs.
FIELD OF UTILIZATION OF S3 SUPER-PLASTICIZER
Chemical addition agent S3 is used in production of pressure reinforced concrete pipes, prefabricated elements made of high-strength concrete B20 and higher, densely reinforced constructions (such as trusses, beams, pillars, bridge spans), slabs and panels in mold batteries, as well as on production and conveyor lines. Erection of crucial constructions for solid structures with advanced reinforcement and complicated configuration.
DOSAGE
Super-plasticizer S3 is added to concrete grouts in quantity of 0,3- 0,7% of dry substance to cement mass.
PACKAGE, TRANSPORTATION, STORAGE
Liquid S3 super-plasticizer (moisture content max. 68%) is transported in manufacturer's 60-ton tanks. Dry S3 is packed into polypropylene sacks with polyethylene leafs 25 kg, or soft containers MKR 500kg. It is transported by trucks for self-delivery, freight cars, 40-ton open wagons, and railway containers of 20, 5, 3 tons. Storage time of S3 super-plasticizer is 1 year for dry form, and 6 months for liquid form from the date of manufacture.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
The S3 super-plasticizer is fire- and explosion-safe substance; it meets the requirements of the 3rd danger class of GOST 12.1.007. By handling the plasticizer should be used protectors (overalls, special shoes, safety goggles, gauntlets, and Lepestok respirator).
Sanitary Certificate № 77.01.03.587. П .34378.11.2 о f 27.11.02 The product is certified by National Construction of Russia.
Certificate of conformance:
1. Concrete mix design consists in adjustment of effective concrete mix without agent considering the purpose of super-plasticizer (SP) usage.
2. Concrete mix proportioning with SP should be performed in laboratory environment using dry aggregates; at that should be taken into account the water of SP solution.
3. SP loading into concrete mix can be made:
a.simultaneously with all tempering water quantity;
b. into concrete mix previously mixed with greater part of water;
c. after concrete mixing.
SP loading in accordance with clauses 3b and 3c is mostly effective with relation to concrete mix mobility and storageability. SP loading method depends on production need, used technology, and dosage precision.
4. If SP is used for thinning of concrete mix, its adjustment consists in selection of optimal SP dosage and determination of sand quantity in aggregates. Mix correction should be made in the following order:
4.1. Select concrete mix without agent with initial cone slump (or hardness) of concrete.
4.2. Make second concrete mix with agent in expected dosage, measure cone slump (or hardness) of concrete.
4.3. If the cone slump or hardness is less ore more than required, increase or decrease SP dosage (by 0,005; 0,1; 0,15; 0,2 %, and so on subject to result in clause 4.2).
4.4. By production of high-mobile and cast concrete mixes should be paid attention to their cohesion. In case of unmixing of concrete it should be reduced or eliminate by means of the following techniques:
- reduction of addition agent dosage;
- using small-fraction mineral agents;
- reduction of water in concrete mix;
- increase of sand proportion in aggregate mix with corresponding decrease of coarse aggregate.
4.5. After hardening in required conditions manufactured samples are tested for compression in prescribed periods.
4.6. If selected concrete mix with SP has the same strength as reference concrete and meets the design objectives, it is taken as a basis for fixing of production mix.
4.7. If manufactured from high-movable mix concrete with SP has strength lower than reference concrete, it is recommended to use the following ways:
- change of thermal treatment conditions;
- increase of SP dosage by 0,05-0,1% with simultaneous decrease of water-to-cement ratio by 5-10% (to required mobility level);
- use of micro-silica.
5. If SP is used for concrete strength or density increase, mix adjustment consists in selection of SP dosage and decrease of concrete mix water content.
5.1. Optimal SP dosage should be chosen in accordance with clause 4 taking into account maximum thinning by appropriate concrete strength.
5.2. After selection of optimal SP dosage is performed correction of water-to-cement ratio (to mobility accepted for concrete mix without addition agent).
6. Using strength increase effect caused by SP application for cement consumption decrease, the first stage of correction is carried out in accordance with clause 5. After determination of concrete strength nature should be decreased cement (0,8-1, kg per 0,1 MPa of strength growth) and water consumption by retention of water-to-cement ratio until making of mix of specified mobility and strength.
